SIPreach
SIP Trunking is the mechanism used to interconnect SIP enabled PBXs over an IP Network to the SIPcom platform, which can then access the PSTN, allowing customers to make calls to any destination worldwide over suitable existing or newly installed DSL circuits.
Channel Partners can use SIPreach to introduce customers to some of the benefits of IP Telephony. In many instances, SIPreach can provide an excellent method for establishing a clear migration path towards a fully hosted SIPexchange solution. SIPreach can be initially sold as a backup to existing ISDN services and then scaled up, when confidence in the IP solution is established.
SIPreach can equally be deployed as part of SIPexchange solution, where certain sites would not benefit from the hosted approach, or the remaining contract term for legacy equipment, makes comprehensive adoption of SIPexchange commercially unattractive.
The benefits of a SIPreach solution include:
• Reduction in call costs to the PSTN
• Free calls between sites
• Reduction in access costs, when compared to traditional ISDN
• Truly flexible and scalable – grow as your business grows.
• Unified number plan with sites connected to SIPexchange
• Supports access to emergency services
Given that many current PABXs are not SIP enabled, SIPreach would be of little interest to many users, but in conjunction with a gateway product, which converts traditional ISDN type signaling to SIP, SIPreach can allow users to enjoy the benefits of SIP trunking, without having to either purchase expensive IP cards for their PABX, or risk true inter-working between SIP enabled devices, which cannot be guaranteed without extensive testing.
SIPreach – Productivity Benefits
• No delays associated with up-scaling capacity, when reacting to an up-turn in business opportunities
• A unified numbering system makes communications between business sites more amenable.
• Features associated with the IP PABX are no longer dormant.
• Full back up and resilience, in the event of a failure of either the ISDN lines, or the DSL access.
SIPreach – Budgetary Benefits
• Customer will see a reduction in normal call charges and calls between sites can be priced at zero.
• Customer will see a reduction in expenditure on ISDN lines.
• A potential new revenue stream for Channel Partners, who do not currently carry calls and rent lines to the customer.
• SIPreach – Management Benefits
• Customer can be offered a single bill for all calls, lines and telecoms services.
• The customer can trial an IP based solution, without the perceived risks associated with fully hosted IP Telephony solutions.
How does it work?
The Network diagram below shows how calls are routed from the customer site, over the DSL network to the SIPcom switch for termination to the PSTN. The Gateway converts the traditional signaling from the PABX in to SIP.
In addition, the user may opt to retain ISDN connectivity to provide a backup for the SIPreach service and vice versa.
